A very well-appointed cottage that passed the teapot test with flying colours. Found the cheese grater too. A bedside alarm clock each and bedside lights with USB ports – I’d like one of those! The garden and Mrs Hen drinking from the waterfall were a delight. We enjoyed the Corn Moon festival in Tunstall, went for 2 great walks with our friends from Tunstall and got the train and bikes to Finghall Lane, the most delightful railway station ever. The cakes in the Railway cafe in Leyburn are a must.

A lovely week in Fieldfare Lodge. Thank you for the lovely cake and other essentials – much appreciated. We loved the scenery and visited Hawes, Tan Hill, Buttertubs, Richmond – the food at the Black Sheep Brewery in Masham is worth sampling and visiting. Weather has been good and we enjoyed the scenery.

Feeling so relaxed. Went out every day. Cheese in Wensleydale, Masham Black Sheep brewery, Richmond and Middleham castles and Northallerton archives for family research on the wet day. Can recommend the Black Swan in Leyburn, opposite side of the road from the co-op, and the chip shop next door but one.

It was cold and wet when we arrived but the cottage was cosy and warm, and the welcome hamper was superb. Throughout the week we have enjoyed watching the garden birds and the chicken which came and knocked at the door! Fieldfare Lodge is well placed for visiting lots of interesting places and we have (we recommend Newby Hall).

Thank you so much for a lovely relaxing week. We wanted for nothing – the lodge is so well equipped. The welcome hamper was superb, homemade bread and cake and all the tasty goodies went down very well, thank you. Your chicken and cats are so friendly, and garden birds/pheasants were a joy to see. Fieldfare Lodge is a little gem!
