Energy & Waste

The radiator in the living room and the towel rail in the bathroom run off the oil fired boiler.  The thermostat on the side of the meter cupboard controls them – currently the setting is 18 degrees because the Lodge does warm up and stay quite warm.  Turn it up or down as you wish – the instructions are here but do give us a shout if you’d like a hand.

The electric radiator in the bedroom has its control on the side – up is hot and down is cooler.  Feel free to use as much or as little heat as you like.

Help yourself to logs from the log store.

The lights under the cupboards work off the little remote control widget which lives on the utensil holder.

The little night light behind the TV is to help with finding the bathroom in the middle of the night.

The hot water has a little way to travel before it gets to the Lodge, but once it gets there it is VERY HOT.  Please be aware – but also enjoy the extra oomph in the shower.

The chest freezer in the old summerhouse is for your use, as are the boot dryers and drying rail.  The boot dryers have timers, the fan heater is on a thermostat, and we will keep an eye on things if we’re around, so there shouldn’t be any overheating!

Your recycling bin is outside your back door – we recycle pretty much everything except food waste, plastic film, pizza boxes – the usual stuff.  We will sort it into the right bins ready for the fortnightly collection, so you don’t have to worry about days or times.

Your dustbin is just outside your back door.  Food waste, plastic film, all that stuff that can’t be recycled.
